OSCILLATE BETWEEN THE FIGURATIVE AND THE ABSTRACTION

After experimenting with several mediums, watercolor has become my favorite means of expression. Its fluidity and its multiple possibilities allow me to give free rein to my creativity and my imagination. Painting with watercolors is a constant challenge; indeed it is not easy to control the vagaries of water. Watercolor is the art of creating with the unexpected. My artistic approach generally consists of painting instinctively, i.e. working directly on the canvas or the paper support without first making a preparatory drawing. Gradually, the subject is defined from the textures, shapes and colors placed on the support. For me, watercolor is no longer limited to techniques requiring the use of transparent colors, without impasto and opaque colors. The transgression to the traditional convictions of pure watercolor favors the creation of modern and avant-garde pictorial works. The challenge in the creation of my works is that they are entirely made with watercolor, without any other medium. My more or less subjective works are born from the harmony of colors, contrasts between shapes as well as the intensity of shadows and lights. This art of expression gives free rein to the imagination of the spectator who discovers his own emotions. The main thing for me can be summed up as follows: a painting, whether figurative, semi-abstract or abstract, remains unfinished as long as it does not arouse the expected emotion.
